West Islip HS, currently 14th-ranked on Long Island, won the annual West Islip Dual Meet Tournament as they defeated four schools en route to the title. Longtime coach Tony Mellino had the Lions ready for the day long competition, as they defeated John Glenn (54-13), Cold Spring Harbor (67-3) and Eastport South Manor (36-18) before reaching the championship match  against Harborfields. Harborfield's coach Ralph Forman had his squad prepared as they advanced with victories over Babylon (59-12), Clarkstown North (47-16) and Hills West (30-28). The West Islip Lions were led by Sean Messina(103), Kyle Keane(135), Tom McLaughlin(125) and Dan McNichols at 160 pounds. The championship dual saw two of Long Island top middlewights square off as Harborfield's Manny Henriquez(15-1) used a second period reversal to defeat previously unbeaten Tom McLaughlin(14-1), 2-0, in their 125-pound bout. In the title match West Islip defeated Harborfiels, 42-12, to take home the championship before the partisan fans at West Islip HS.
