The Sachem "B" squad had a dramatic come-from-behind victory over Hills West, 31-27. The Flaming Arrows won the first three bouts with Glenn Confessore ( a 14-3 winner at 103), Pat O'Donnell (112) and tough Tony Tymvios at 119 for a 10-0 lead. Hills West battled back with three falls and led 27-10 with four bouts remaining in the dual. Consecutive victories were turned in by Michael Walsh (an 8-6 decision at 160), highly-touted James Sykes ( a 17-1, 3:46 tech fall winner at 171) and Kolin Fischer who posted a clinching fall at the 4:33 mark in the 189-pound bout and Joe Maro received a forfeit win at 215.
In the first round of the annual West Islip Duals, host West Islip defeated Eastport South Manor, 32-25, and were led by Tom McLaughlin (119), Jay Poggi (125) and Brandon Ramsbotham who secured a key fall in his 152-pound bout to pace the Lions to victory. ESM, one of the top teams in Class B, were led by Ken Cassara (103), potential champion Alex Rojas (112) and Scott Bukowski at 215 pounds.
In other duals, Clarkstown North (Section One) defeated Stony Brook, 45-18 and Harborfields dominated Babylon, 51-24.
