| The Stony Brook Seawolves picked up four pins in a row to battle back from a 19-3 deficit to the Cortland Red Dragons and take the match 30-19. Stony Brook played host at Ward Melville High School and it was only fitting that former Ward Melville graduate Matt Frey got the ball rolling for SBU. Frey picked up a second period pin at 174 pounds as the Seawolves won the last five bouts.
Former West Islip standout Joe Byrne had put the Red Dragons in front with a commanding lead after securing a fall at 165 pounds, but that was it for the Cortland Club team. The Stony Brook Club won their second bout in this, their inaugural season. Head Coach Shaun Lally started the afternoon off giving praise to his seniors and their parents and hopes to continue to build the program as college wrestling finally returns to Suffolk County.
