St. Anthony's (20-4) edged Chaminade (16-2), 34-27, in a CHSAA classic dual meet, before a capacity crowd at Saint Anthony's HS.
The dual started at 189 pounds where  Rob Sweitzer outlasted Dan Fowler, 6-4, and gave the host team a 3-0 lead. Chaminade's unbeaten Brendan Fowler (20-0) converted a front headlock takedown into a first period pin and gave the Flyer's a 6-3 lead. Jon Desir (St.Anthony's) used a tight spiral half and secured  a 56 second fall at 285 pounds. In perhaps the most entertaining bout of the dual, Chaminade's Michael Nicholas scored with a reversal into a headlock and led 8-6 midway through the match, but the Friar's Nicholas Ronan escaped and scored with a double leg takedown en route to a 10-9 victory in the 96-pound weight class. The Flyer's responded as sophomore Peter Rooney (103) clamped an inside overhead cradle on his opponent in 26 seconds and knotted the team score at 12-12.
St. Anthony's trio of All-State matmen would reeled off three consecutive victories, starting at 112 where Chris Brienza (29-1) scored with a low single and applied a bar arm/half nelson for a first period fall. Jimmy Morris (28-1) used his single leg/dump takedown along with and a series of bar arm/turk near falls to post an 14-2 major decision at 119. Defending state champion
Grant Greene (22-2, 126-10 career) was relentless with his low single leg attacks and series of bar/arm tilts, as he rolled to a 20-4 tech fall at 125 pounds and gave the Friars a comfortable 27-12 lead.
The Flyers would win three of the next four bouts; Mike Jones (130), Tim Gilbert (135) and reigning CHSAA champion Troy Sampson (22-5) at 145. Sampson scored with two single leg takedowns and added an escape for a solid 5-1 verdict, which brought the team score to 30-21.
St. Anthony's clinched the dual meet as senior Brandon Meisner (27-7, 97 wins) scored with a barrage of single leg and high crotch takedowns to post a 17-7 major decision at 160, and bring the team score to an insurmountable 34-24 margin. In the last bout of the dual, Chaminade's Andrew deLannoy (8-2) had a 6-2 victory at 171 pounds.

Mat Notes...
Tonight's match was Senior and Alumni night for the host team Saint Anthony's. Brother Philip, founder of the Alumni Association for the past 26 years, honored former Friar's coach, the legendary Jerry Harrell. Next up for the Chaminade Flyers will be the prestigious Newburgh Duals, which features the state's number-two ranked mat squad, Hauppauge HS.  St. Anthony's continue with their gruelling schedule, as next week they have dual meets against Huntington and Rocky Point. Possible marquee match-up in the Huntington dual could see state king Grant Greene against two-time NYS placer and 2009 finalist Damon McQueen at 119 pounds.
