| Longwood (17-0) defeated Sachem North (19-6), 49-16, in a traditional battle of the top mat squads on Long Island. The Lions won the first three bouts and were led by Malik Rasheed with a first period pin at 103, 8th-grader Nicky Hall who used his bar arm tilts en route to a solid 14-0 major decision at 112, and sophomore Casey Brice applied a tight overhead cradle to record a fall in 51 seconds at 119, and gave his team a comfortable 16-0 lead. The Flaming Arrows got on the scoreboard as Ryan Gerondel scored on a snap/spin takedown with six seconds remaining to eke out 3-1 victory at 125. In one of the pivotal bouts of the meet, Pat Jennings applied a tight spiral ride/half and pinned Mike Piro with one second remaining in their 130-pound match, and put the Lions up 22-3 in the team score. Sachem North would climb back in the meet with a 8-0 major decision by Joe LaSala (145) and a fall by Justin Patus at 152, to bring the team score to 31-13. Longwood would record four more falls in the meet and were paced by William Parks (171) with a lateral drop at the 2:31 mark, and top-ranked senior Ernest James scored with a double leg takedown, along with a bar arm and flattened his opponent in 58 seconds in the 215-pound bout.

Unbeaten 7th-grader and the top-ranked 96-pounder in the state, Corey Rasheed (26-0) posted a first period pin, as did teammate Ben Lee at 285 pounds. Longwood, currently ranked second on Long Island, won 11 of the 15 bouts contested and registered 10 falls on the day. Veteran coach Mike Picozzi (a NYS finalist in 1976 for Huntington) has his young Lions primed for the upcoming League I and Suffolk County Tournaments.
