| The 13th annual National Wrestling Hall of Fame Awards and Induction Ceremony was held at the Huntington Hilton in Melville, NY. Special guest was Lee Roy Smith, Executive Director of the National Hall of Fame in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The President of the Friends of Long Island Wrestling, Jerry Seckler, began the evening with a moment of silence for the late Rudy Fiorvanti, who was a great man and a rare three sport athlete at Massapequa HS in 1970. The dinner was attended by 400 people which included former distinguished Hall of Fame members, coaches and wrestling contributors throughout Long Island. The ceremony honored six worthy recipients, Setrak Agonian (Bulgaria), as an Outstanding American, Pat Augustine (Geneva HS), the Medal of Courage, and four Lifetime Service Awards. The 2007 inductees for those awards were Ken Cellan (Lindenhurst HS), the late Robert "Doc" Fallot (Amityville HS), Bob Goldberg (MacArthur HS) and Gary Mims (Massapequa HS). Each inductee gave an eloquent speech, but none more moving than that of Massapequa's Gary Mims. Mims stated, "Coaching individuals is not about wins and losses, but what those people become later in life". He also added, "Coaching Rudy Fiorvanti is what coaching is all about".
