Section Eight  (Nassau County) moved six wrestlers into the semifinal round including the trio from Wantagh; state titlist John Greisheimer (40-0) at 152, along with Joe Barbuto (96) and unbeaten Matt Loew (38-0) at 189 pounds. Two-time champion Paul Liguori (37-3) was edged by returning champion Andrew Lenzi (41-3) with a questionable two-leg cut back escape with 26 seconds remaining in the match, prior to that, Liguori had knotted the match at 5-5, with a single leg takedown.
