In perhaps the best bout of the semifinals and a battle of unbeatens, reigning state king, Anwar Goeres (46-1) was upset by Jared Rueda (33-0) at 125 pounds. Rueda scored with a double leg takedown as time expired for an exciting 8-7 victory. He will face returning state placewinner David Marble (28-1) in the gold medal match.Two other state kings suffered defeats, Ian Paddock (43-1) was edged, 4-3, by Nick Wilcox (35-1) at 103 and Mike Aris (38-3) was handled, 13-3, by Rich Berkowitz (39-2) at 130. Previously unbeaten Mike Gomez (29-1) was pinned by highly-rated Jared Lemke (35-11) at 112 pounds. In a semifinal bout at 96 pounds, Kyle Dake (35-1) was winning his bout ,when he inadvertently was pinned by Chris Conti (37-4) of Fredonia-6.
