|NCAA TOURNAMENT PRELIMINARY ROUND UPDATE|
| Defending NCAA champion Penn State leads the field with 37.5 points over Minnesota (33), Cornell (26), Iowa (25) and Oklahoma State with 23.5 points. The Nittany Lions returning champion Quentin Wright (30-3) advanced at 184 pounds, along with their trio of unbeaten #1 ranked wrestlers:
Frank Molinaro (32-0) at 149, David Taylor (31-0) at 165 and Ed Ruth (30-0) at 174. Both Taylor and Ruth recorded two first period pins; Taylor used a half and bar/arm to secure his fall and Ruth clamped on a tight cross-face cradle for the first period fall.
Two-time NCAA champion Kyle Dake (34-0) applied a tight spiral half to flatten his opponent at the 1:31 mark in his 157-pound bout, he also posted a first period pin in his preliminary bout. The Big Red also advanced Frank Perrelli (34-5) who won in overtime at 125, Steve Bosak (32-4) at 184 and top-seeded Cam Simaz (30-1) at 197.Three-time Al-American Simaz had an impressive 22-7 tech fall over Morgan McIntosh (Penn State).
Hofstra pushed two wrestlers into the quarterfinals; Justin Accordino (27-11) who pinned his opponent at 149 and returning AA Paul Gillespie (32-5) who scored with a slick duck-under to edge Iowa's #5 Michael Evans, 3-2.
Harvard's Stephen Keith (36-8) won three bouts, including an exciting 8-6 win over #6 Devin Carter (VaTech) in the 133-pound class. Keith will face #3 Iowa's Tony Ramos (32-3) in the quarterfinals.

|Lehigh's Stephen Dutton (Rocky Point) lifts West Virginia's Mike Morales. Dutton won 12-4 to remain alive in the wrestlebacks at 141 pounds.|
