| MASSAPEQUA WINS CHRISTMAS TOURNAMENT |
| Massapequa coach Gary Mims, in his last season, won the Christmas Tournament with 237 points and four individual champions. The Chiefs have hosted the annual event the past 44 years, making it the oldest running invitational tournament on Long Island. The capacity crowd was witness to Massapequa celebrating its' 50th year of wrestling excellence when dozens of alumni converged matside prior to the start of the finals. Massapequa locked up the team title early putting seven into the finals and outpointing runner-up Hauppauge which had one champ and 195 points. Monroe-Woodbury traveled from upstate and finished with 3 champs and 190.5 points. Rounding out the top five were, Connetquot with one champ and 170.5 points, followed by Long Beach with 3 champions and 146 points. Jamie Franco, wrestling for Monroe-Woodbury, was awarded the outstanding wrestler after he beat Wantagh's John Greisheimer 11-3 in the finals at 112 pounds.
