| Islip HS, the number one ranked team in the Empire State, showed their dominance as they pushed 12 wrestlers into the championship finals in the tough League V Tournament. The Bucs have a commanding lead for the team title, as they tallied 232 points and runner-up Huntington(147), Sayville(142), Hauppauge(137), Hills West(72), Kings Park(44) and Comsewogue(10) round out the team scoring after the semi-final round. Islip is led by Tyler Mashkow(103), unbeaten Tom Magnani(28-0) at 119, Joe Macaluso(125), Paul Vaeth(130), the Wade brothers; Lance(135) and Chris(140), along with Mike Rudden(145), Dan Egan(152) and Ryan Patrovich at 152 pounds. In perhaps the biggest upset of the semi-final round, Lance Wade defeated previosly unbeaten Andrew Lomanno(25-1) of Sayville, 13-3, in the 135-pound class. Wade will now face Sayville's David Bachy in the finals, who decisioned Hauppauge's John Haining,10-4. Another upset occurred in the 103-pound class, as Sayville's Corey Sullivan pinned Huntington's second-seeded Brian Lifson at the 4:54 mark. Sullivan(21-4) will face top-seeded Tyler Mashkow(27-1) in the finals. Mashkow, Chris Wade, Rudden, Egan and Patrovich all advance to the finals via first period falls. Huntington was lead by Charlie Paar(171), state runner-up Jack Sullivan(189), Kelcy Perry(215) and Jeremy Pellot at 275 pounds. Paar, Sullivan and Perry are all top-seeded and recorded pins in the semi-final matches. Hauppauge's top-seeded John Oschmann(27-0) advanced to the 96-pound championship with a technical fall over Islip's John Lamonica.
