2004 LONG ISLAND CHALLENGE DUALS
     Islip, MacArthur, Massapequa and Sachem were victorious in the first round at the 2nd annual Long Island Challenge Team Championships held at Nassau CC. Islip, currently ranked second on Long Island were led by Tom Magnani who posted an exciting 12-9 victory over all-county Jorge Pinto (Bethpage) in the 125-pound class. Other standouts were Chris Camarda (112), Mike Rudden (130), Chris Wade (135) and sophomore Ryan Patrovich who secured a fall at 140 pounds. The Bucs went onto defeat Bethpage, 54-15. MacArthur handled Rocky Point, 45-21, and were led by  Steve DeLorenzo (112), Matt Meyers (119) and former Nassau champion Bruce Popko at 125 pounds. Massapequa battled William Floyd and came away with a solid 40-16 win. The Chiefs were led by Dan Bonnanno (112), Kevin Driscoll (119) and Matt Cellan (130) as they all posted falls. County runner-up Ron Lanzillotta defeated Phil Parr, 5-3, in the 189-pound bout. Floyd's top-ranked John Barone decisioned Kevin Phillips, 9-5, in the 171-pound bout and the Locke brothers were also winners; DJ at 103 and Mike at 140 pounds. Sachem defeated East Meadow, 42-18, and were led by Rob Goldberg (103) and all-county Chris Iorio (112). Also pacing the Flaming Arrows were Mark Colasuonno (125), Karl Hanisch (160) and tough Scott Zeffiro at 171 pounds. The Jets had key wins from Al Tropiano who edged Paul Guidone, 3-2, at 119, and Spencer Cook at 140 pounds.
