BRIAN REALBUTO WINS NATIONAL JUNIOR TITLE

Two-time New York State champion Brian Realbuto won the Asics National Junior Freestyle championship at Fargo, North Dakota. Realbuto (53-0, 230-11 career mark) hails from Somers, NY and stunned Brian Murphy (Illinois) with a fall at the 1:59 mark to claimed the 145-pound crown.
     The Empire State finished in 10th place with 22 points, behind team champion Illinois (93), Iowa (55), Wisconsin (32), Ohio (30) and California to round out the top five teams.
     Other Freestyle medalists were;
Lucas Malmberg (Marathon) -6th at 105, John Aslanian (Edgemont) - 8th at 112 and two All-American place-winners at 135 pounds - Quinton Murphy (Holley) - 3rd and Steven Rodrigues (Fox Lane) who finished 5th in the weight class. Both Murphy and Rodrigues won state titles in 2011.
    Three New Yorkers earned All-American status in the National Greco competition,
Kyle Kelly (Chenango Forks) -7th at 98, Patrick Hogan (Peru) - 8th at 135 and Long Beach's Dylan Palacio who finished 8th at 152 pounds.
