| In a Nassau Conference I dual, Massapequa defeated East Meadow, 45-15. At 189 pounds the Chiefs' Ron Lanzillotta (25-2) edged defending county champion Matt DeLuca, 6-5. Huntington (9-0) continued their winning ways by upended a strong Hauppauge squad, 48-9, and now have an 81-match win streak. Islip (7-2) dominated Comsewogue, 54-6, and will face Huntington next Friday for the League V title. Connetquot (7-0) edged previously unbeaten Commack (11-1), 33-26, for the League II title. Back in Nassau, upstart Uniondale surprised Freeport, 37-21, and continue their surge by emerging as a top ten team in Section Eight. In a Suffolk League I dual, Sachem handled Patchogue-Medford, 40-15, and were led by all- county Chris Iorio at 119. In the 140-pound bout, Pat-Med's Brian Costello (18-2) defeated Sachem's Mike Losito (21-4),7-2, in a match that featured two of Long Island's top middleweights.
In a Suffolk League I showdown, Sachem (11-4) defeated William Floyd, 47-33. The Flaming Arrows were led by pin-winners, Chris Iorio (22-2) at 112, Paul Guidone (119), Brett Cataldi (125), Vinny Merante (135), Karl Hanisch (160) and sophomore Matt Ferber at 215 pounds. In the 130-pound bout, Floyd's Anthony LoGuidice battled Mark Colasuonno and emerged with a hard fought 10-6 victory. Other standouts for Floyd were Mike Locke (16-3) with a fall at 145, unbeaten junior John Barone (17-0, 98 career wins) who secured a 3:13 fall at 171 and Phil Parr who posted a 5-2 decision at 189 pounds.
MacArthur hosted some top teams in Bergen-Catholic from New Jersey and Brentwood from Suffolk. Bergen-Catholic prevailed in both duals.
