| Hofstra (1-0) defeated Wagner (0-2), 53-0, before nearly 1,000 fans at the David S. Mack Sports Complex in Hempstead, NY. The Pride won all ten bouts contested and were led by Lou Ruggirello (5-0) at 133, Jonny Bonilla-Bowman (3-1) at 157, Ryan Patrovich (4-1) at 165 and All-American Alton Lucas (4-0), a senior at 174 pounds. Ruggirello, a junior applied a tight bar arm to secure his fifth consecutive fall on the season, Bowman used a barrage of double leg takedowns to post a 21-8 major decision, along with Patrovich who used a combination of single leg takedowns and a duck under hook ankle pick en route to a 16-4 verdict. Lucas overpowered his opponent and used a strong half nelson to record his fall at the 4:15 mark and gave the host team an insurmountable 37-0 lead with three bouts remaining in the dual. |
