Hofstra (11-6) defeated Penn (5-4), 25-11, before 946 fans at the Hofstra Physical Fitness Center. The Pride, now ranked 12th in the nation, won seven bouts in the dual and were paced by their outstanding lightweight corps. The dual started at 125 pounds, where Dave Tomasette (25-6) opened the bout with a wild scramble and emerged with the  takedown against seventh-ranked Rollie Peterkin (17-2). Tomasette used roll counters to score with a single leg takedown in the third period and posted a solid 8-2 verdict in the most entertaining bout of the meet. Lou Ruggirello (28-4) recorded a 3-2 decision at 133, and All-American Charles Griffin (26-3) scored with an onslaught of double leg takedowns and coasted to a 15-6 major decision at 141 pounds, and bring the team score to 10-0.The Quakers would take two of the next three bouts to close the gap to 13-8. Jonny Bonilla-Bowman (12-9) scored with a low single/ankle finish takedown with 20 seconds remaining in his match and posted an exciting 7-5 victory at 157 pounds. Fifth-ranked Alton Lucas (20-2) used his underhook/leg trip for the initial takedown and held on for 5-3 decision. Joe Rovelli (20-3) scored with a snap/spin takedown and added his roll reversals for a 7-4 win at 197. Tom Daddino converted a chin drag to a reverse half nelson and flattened Trey McClean at the 3:26 mark in his 285-pound bout.

   Hofstra is undefeated in 59 consecutive dual conference matches posting a 58-0-1 record. The last time the Pride dropped a conference match was on Feb.17th, 1999, when Rider won, 28-10. Four Hofstra wrestlers are ranked number one in the conference, Ruggirello, Griffin, Lucas and Rovelli. UPenn coach Zeke Jones (Arizona State '90) is now in his third season.
