Hofstra (6-0) was currently ranked 11th in the nation, but now the Pride should move  into the top ten with their stunning upset of top-ranked Minnesota. The Golden Gophers have two defending NCAA champions, sophomore Dustin Schlatter (149) and  Cole Konrad at 285 pounds. Two key victories were posted by Hofstra seniors, James Strouse (157) and Chris Weidman (197). Strouse needed two overtime periods to edged C.P. Schlatter, 4-2, and Weidman had an exciting come-from-behind, 11-8 verdict at 197 pounds. His decision clinched the team's victory at the Journeymen/Brute Northeast Collegiate Duals held at Guilderland High School. It was also the first ever dual  victory for Hofstra over a number one ranked team. First-year Hofstra coach Tom Shifflet said, "This is the best dual-meet win I've had in my coaching career." The Pride also defeated American University, 33-12, Princeton, 45-6 and Bloomsburg, 27-15. Pride's Dave Tomasette (125) suffered a leg injury in the tournament and could be sidelined for next weekend's competition. The Pride now have four undefeated matmen, James Strouse (10-0) at 157, Mike Patrovich (6-0) at 165, sophomore Alton Lucas (10-0) at 174 and Chris Weidman (6-0) at 197 pounds. Next up for  Hofstra is the Cliff Keen/Las Vegas Invitational on December 1st-2nd, at the Star of the Desert Arena in Primm, Nevada...
