Hofstra (2-2-1) nipped Lock Haven (0-2), 20-19, at the David S. Mack Sports Complex on Sunday afternoon. The Pride was the beneficiary of a forfeit win by
Luke Vaith at 141 pounds and after a close defeat at 149, the host team had a 6-3 lead. Hofstra reeled off four consecutive victories, starting with senior Jonny Bonilla-Bowman (3-2) as he scored with an onslaught of takedowns for a 24-11 major decision at 157 and sophomore PJ Gillespie (15-4) followed suit with a dominating 13-1 decision at 165 pounds. The Pride would get decisions by Ryan Patrovich (12-4) with a solid 5-0 verdict at 174 and sophomore Ben Clymer (12-4) edged Lock Haven's Jeremie Cook, 3-2, at 184 and gave the host team a commanding 20-3 lead.

The Bald Eagles would claimed wins in the next four weight classes, starting at 125 pounds. The bout was the debut of highly-regarded sophomore Steve Bonanno.  Bonanno had been sidelined with an early season leg injury and suffered misfortune in the opening stanza, as 30 seconds into his bout with Nick Hyatt, he injured his arm and was forced to default, this brought the team score to 20-16. True freshman Jamie Franco wrestled a calculated match and prevented John Trumbetti  the major decision, as he dropped a 8-2 decision, and enabled the Pride to eke out the 20-19 victory.

Mat Notes...
