FRIENDS OF MASSAPEQUA WRESTLING TAKEDOWN TOURNAMENT UNDER THE LIGHTS
IS HUGE SUCCESS
Former Massapequa Wrestlers, Alex Varon (left) and Andrew Mundo (right) competed in the open senior division with Mundo coming out on top with 3 takedowns.
  The Friends of Massapequa Wrestling were surprised at the number of people who showed up to watch their takedown tournament under the lights. With close to 1,000 people, over 400 participants, it turned into a wrestling festival with music, food and intense competition. The wrestling stretched late into Friday night as the open division weight classes concluded with some of the best bouts of the tournament on the John Burns Park football field.
Former Massapequa standout and three-time Nassau County champion, Walter Sosnowski (left) had the most takedowns in one match, scoring nine in two minutes.
