| SACHEM NORTH HS TO HOST JOE DAVIDSON MEMORIAL DUALS The annual Joe Davidson Memorial Duals will be held on Thursday and Friday, December 29th-30th at Sachem North HS. The tournament is held in honor of the late Joe Davidson who passed away in 2005. Joe Davidson was a former Suffolk County champion and an All-State wrestler for Sachem HS in the 1970s. He later returned to Sachem HS as an assistant wrestling coach and was an integral part of the many successful county and state championship teams. This tournament keeps his memory alive and each year the Davidson Family present a scholarship award to an outstanding Sachem North student/ athlete who plans on entering the field of education and wrestling at the college level. The tournament features ten teams from both Nassau and Suffolk County. Host Sachem North will be led by all-county performers Sean O'Hagan (120) and Gio Santiago at 182. Head coach Ray Pickersgill also points to three-time league placer Frank Napoli (126), Matt Marino (132), Franky Blais (138) and league finalist Anthony Confessore now in the 195- pound class. East Islip has Jesse DellaVecchia (99), Shawn Cummings (170), Chris Chambers (182) and county placer Dan Hayden at 285 pounds. A balanced Shoreham-Wading River squad has potential county champions with TJ Fabian (120) and Suffolk finalist Jon Keck at 152. Other top matmen are James Szymanski (99), Jack Taddeo (113) and David Keith at 126 pounds. Other teams in the field are two-time Division II champion Bayport-Blue Point, Farmingdale, West Babylon, Lindenhurst, Newfield, Deer Park and a strong Eastport South Manor team. Bayport has returning two-time Div. II champion Ryan Hake (138) and finalist Harrison DeSousa at 285. Coach Rich Reilly's other key grapplers are the Palma brothers; Jake (99) and Joe (106), along with Justin Underwood (120), Ralph Fabiani (145) and Anthony Lombardi at 195. Eastport has the Passaro brothers; Travis (120) and Maverick at 126, both are returning all-county performers. Also to watch are John Busiello (99), Nick Garone (106), Jimmy Leach (113) and upperweight Fumnanya Agbimson who competes at 182/195 pounds.
