Mat Notes...
Connetquot's victory tonight clinched the League II dual meet title and was their sixth league crown over the past seven years. During that span the Thunderbirds have compiled an impressive 65-6 dual meet mark. The Thunderbirds' tri-captains; James McCabe, Connor Gribbin and Nick Castellanos, earned their 100th victory this season and now join Connetquot's elite Century Club. Connetquot coach Bill Santoro stated, " We have always been good and it's a tribute to all the kids, coaches and the program." Santoro added, " It has been the teamwork and outstanding staff of coaches; Anthony Melfi, Scott With, Bryan Meehan and former Amityville alum, Steve Cella, that have contributed to our success." He also remembered what the late Ted Petersen (Island Trees) and close friend told him, "Good kids make coaches look good." Santoro, now in his 32nd season, has enabled the CHS wrestlers to  attain their goals. As one veteran wrestling observer noted, "Bill Santoro is legendary and a real class act."
