| Sachem East (15-0) defeated Connetquot (11-1), 46-25, before a packed house for the League II dual meet title on Senior Night at Connetquot HS. The meet opened at 138 pounds and Jackson Mordente upset highly-regarded Joey Gates (27-4), 5-2. The Flaming Arrows would then reeled off three more consecutive victories to take a comfortable 16-0 lead. At 145, Billy Merone (18-1) converted a 3/4 nelson for a third period pin, Anthony Pistone (19-2) used a series of leg tilts en route to a 18-7 major decision at 152 and sophomore Mark Tracy posted a solid 8-2 win at 160 pounds. Connetquot's Shaun Gillen (28-2) pancaked his opponent and registered a first period fall in his 170-pound bout to bring the team score to 16-6. Sachem East would then record two falls at 182 and 195, before the T-Birds unbeaten Kenny Drew (27-0) scored with a front headlock and overhead cradle to post a 10-2 major decision at 220 pounds. Connetquot continued to rally as Eddie Hart (26-6) at 106 and Anthony Scaffedi (15-6) at 113 posted falls and narrowed the team score to 37-22. In one of the marquee match-ups of the dual unbeaten freshman Jakob Restrepo (21-0) scored with a decisive double and later used an arm bar and forced Steven Bulzomi (28-3) to default in the bout. At 126, the T-Birds All-State performer Sean McCabe (28-1) opened the scoring with an ankle pick and later scored with a reversal to defeat 2010 Suffolk finalist Conor O'Hara, 6-1. Sachem East's Anthony Messina had an exciting come-from-behind victory as he used a third period escape and a single leg takedown with 15 seconds to edge Brendan Dent in the 132-pound bout. Mat Notes... Sachem East won 10 of the 15 bouts contested in the dual and is currently ranked #2 on Long Island. Connetquot is rated 4th and both teams will meet in the upcoming League II Tournament and Suffolk County Championships.
