In a battle of the Islips, Central Islip topped host West Islip 34-22 for their second consecutive win over the crosstown rival. Central Islip, coached by West Islip alumni Brad and Rick Brzozinski improved to 10-7 on the year as they get ready for next weekend's League Tournament. CI got on the board first with a win by Gio Sanchez at 112 pounds but WI quickly responded with Brian Culkin's pin at 119 pounds. Santos Arriaza tied the team score, winning a hard fought match at 125 against Matt Donovan. That started a four match streak for CI before Steve Waibal picked up a fall for the Lions at 145 pounds. Defending county champion, Andy Rodriguez bumped up to 152 pounds and recorded a second period pin and his 30th win of the season. CI heavyweight Byron Kesler clinched the win with a second period fall and fourth ranked Allen Gomez closed out the meet with a 6-0 win over Steve Coppola.
