| 2008 COLONIAL ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION WRESTLING CHAMPIONSHIPS Hofstra won its seventh consecutive CAA Conference championship at the David S. Mack Sports Complex. The Pride tallied 104.5 points to outdistanced runner-up Old Dominion (87) and Rider with 73 points. Hofstra crowned three champions, Lou Ruggirello (34-5) at 133, Jonny Bonilla-Bowman(18-11) at 157, and Alton Lucas (25-4) at 174 pounds. All-American Charles Griffin (32-4) dropped a close 3-2 decision to Ryan Williams (38-11) of Old Dominion in the 141-championship bout. Williams was voted the Outstanding Wrestler Award. Defending champion Doug Umbehauer (25-8) won his second CAA title at 184 pounds. |
