     The 112 pound weight featured state ranked John Payne of Queensbury and semi-final match-up Jason Mulzoff (Whitman) vs. Tom Masciale (Newfield). Top ranked Alton Lucas (20-0) of West Babylon advanced to the 145 pound semi-final. In the 275 class Joey Wyld of Guilderland advanced to the semi-final round Wyld's father Tom was a former state champion also from Guilderland in 1979.
